Trader Joe's "Butternut Squash Mac & Cheese"

Trader Joe’s is on point with their seasonal fall items! I’m lowkey sad that I only bought one of these, but I didn’t have the freezer space anyways boo. Now I know for next time to make some serious room in my freezer.

          
This product is sold for $2.99 a box. Trader Joe’s is always on point with their pricing. $3 for a whole meal is really nice, especially when it’s a flavorful meal that actually keeps you full.

Ug I honestly wasn’t expecting such an amazing flavor. You’ll never be able to eat Kraft ever again without feeling like a peasant. There is a mixture of gouda, cheddar and parmesan cheese. You can taste the smokiness of the gouda and the sharpness of the cheddar perfectly. There are also these little black specs in the sauce. I’m assuming that it is black pepper since it’s on the ingredient list. The little black specs really add a nice punch of flavor, and really bring out the smokiness of the gouda (lol my dad is going to love seeing such descriptive language). I do have ONE complaint though. I couldn’t taste any fucking butternut squash! Don’t get me wrong, I LOVE THIS… but it’s being advertised as a squash mac & cheese and the squash is nowhere to be found. Hmmm, that lowkey ruined my Halloween vibes so I took a point off.


These nutritional facts had me SHOOK. I’m not shocked that such a decadent mac & cheese had that many calories, and honestly I’m not even complaining because that is a whole meal for me. But I was shocked at the amount of protein in it. 23 grams of protein for the whole thing woo! It says that there are two servings, but that’s not realistic in my world haha.
All you do is pop this in the micro. for 5-6 mins… EASY.
This is my new fav frozen meal from TJ and I am going to make sure to stock up before the season is over!

Side note: These are so popular that they run out FAST! I’d recommend going right when they open to guarantee you get quantity that you want, because I had to snatch one off the unpacking cart before the vultures got to it!

Trader Joe's "Breakfast Trek Mix"

Rating: 6/10 Let me start by asking, what the hell is trek mix? I’m just going to assume it’s another word for trail mix. I enjoy this, but I don’t need it in my life. The TRAIL mix consists of granola balls, almonds, dried cranberries and yogurt chips. The flavors are great, between the saltiness of the almonds and the sweetness of the yogurt chips. But, it doesn’t do enough for me. This is perfect for a snack… a small snack. If you’re at Disneyland and eat this thinking you’ll no longer feel hungry, then you’re stupid and guess what? Still hungry. I wouldn’t recommend this for a legit snack to keep you full, but more of a snack when you barely start getting hungry. I eat these in my classes, so I’m not too obnoxious bringing full ass meals into a lecture hall. What is great about these, are that they are individually packaged! Trader Joe's "Butter Chicken with Basmati Rice"

YES YES YES 10/10               This is amazing! I’ve read that Trader Joe’s carries really good Indian food, so I wanted to try it for myself. I wouldn’t consider myself a lover of Indian food… usually. But this meal made me think otherwise. The microwave instructions are more intense than the typical frozen meal, but it is worth it for something that tastes so authentic. You’re supposed to put it in the microwave for 5 minutes on “defrost mode”. Then you’ll cook it regularly for 4 more minutes.  One of the things I love is that the meat/sauce and rice are seperated. So don’t stress about soggy rice! The portion of this is so big. It is such a realistic size for a meal, unlike Healthy Choice meals lol. You know how you get frozen meals and the chicken is  nonexistent? Well don’t be scared of that her e. There are hu ge pieces of juicy chicken in a pool of yummy sauce.
